Fall in the North Georgia Mountains

The combination of beautiful fall leaves with the beauty of the North Georgia mountains and the North Georgia lakes is hard to beat. This is a special experience that enhances the charm of this special time of year.

Lake Burton is ideally situated in the middle of much of this and the special activities associated with Fall in the North Georgia mountains.

If you are just into seeing the leaves at their peak, check out Leaf Watch, a feature of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and their calendar on which they project the best times to be there.

This is a great time of the year to stretch your legs and go hiking in the mountain areas surrounding the Lake.

Special activities include the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival in Hiawassee Georgia. This event showcases much of the local folk art, fiddling and clogging competition and activities for the whole family. Oh, and some great food too!

The Oktoberfest in Helen Georgia is also a wonderful time to enjoy much of the fun of this special German tradition in a mountain setting with the costumes, music and, of course, brats and beer!
