Whitewater Rafting

Many of us may remember the movie Deliverance which was filmed on the Chattooga River. Don’t worry about the banjo players or their kinfolk. The mountains are much safer now!

The Chattooga River forms the border of Georgia and South Carolina. This is only 29 miles east of Lake Burton.

Southeastern Expedition, which operates out of Clayton, Georgia, runs organized whitewater rafting trips. They are great fun and offer professional guides.

If you are not quite up to the adrenaline rush of that experience, you may want to consider what Cool River Tubing has to offer in Helen, Georgia, 29 miles west of Lake Burton. Here children of all ages can have a great and cool experience, much appreciated on warm summer days!

Finally, lake folks will tell you that kids of all ages love tubing behind a boat.
